NatPharm procures medicines and medical supplies for all public health institutions and mission hospitals in Zimbabwe through a sound and transparent tendering system. Annually, NatPharm floats tenders worth tens of million of United States dollars for the procurement of these health commodities.

Procurement of these health commodities is based on selected drugs and dosage forms and available financial resources. Procedures adopted in procuring drugs by NatPharm  include:

• Estimating quantity of each drug product required for a given period,

• Finding out the prices of the different drug dosage forms required,

• Allocating funds for each drug dosage form depending on:

  1. Priority nature of the drug and dosage form,
  2. Available finances

*** Requisition for drug and dosage form is made after due consultation with health professionals that include Physicians, Specialist Doctors, General Practioners and Nurses.

NatPharm follows procurement regulations as enunciated in the Procurement Act.
